ABOUT Australian Shepherds

Owning our own Australian Shepherd over the years has shown us the love and magnificent essence of the breed. We have studied the breed, learned their ways, and educated ourselves in the world of canine genetics, health & training Although your Australian Shepherd will want to please you, he can be difficult to housetrain. Crate training is recommended. Australian Shepherds are prone to chills, especially if they are damp or walking in damp areas. If your Australian Shepherd has long hair, he can get sunburned on the skin where the hair is parted on the back. Because of their small size and delicate structure, Australian Shepherds generally aren’t recommended for households with toddlers or small children. To get a healthy dog, never buy a puppy from an irresponsible breeder, puppy mill, or pet store. Look for a reputable breeder who tests her breeding dogs to make sure they’re free of genetic diseases that they might pass onto the puppies, and that they have sound temperaments. Some Australian Shepherds have delicate digestive systems and may be picky eaters. Eating problems can occur if your Australian Shepherd has teeth or gum problems as well. If your Australian Shepherd is showing discomfort when eating or after eating, take him to the vet for a checkup
Socialization Program and Early Neurological Stimulation
In creating the perfect family dog, we understand the importance of developing positive personality traits in our purebred aussie pups. Proper socialization ensures that your puppy will adapt smoothly to its new family member, other pets, and home life. We take each of our puppies through our very own comprehensive socialization program before it goes home to its new family.
Early Neurological Stimulation is a technique to improve the long term ability of dogs to adjust to change and build upon socialization to changing stimuli. The training we follow was researched and created by Dr. Carmen L. Battaglia. Every puppy is introduced daily to new experiences and stimulation that help develop their behavior and personality. Each puppy is introduced to other dogs, children, and (approved) strangers. Experiences like bath time and walk time help each puppy develop the necessary confidence to help it positively respond to “trigger” environments where negative behavior might be a temptation. Many behavior issues that adult dogs develop are directly related to their experiences as a puppy. By creating positive, developmental experiences, we ensure our puppies for sale develop into confident, well rounded adults.
The attention to detail that we create through our socialization program really sets us apart from other breeders. Time and again, we have been shocked to learn how other breeders raise their puppies. Responsible breeding is not just about providing food, water and basic medical attention to your puppies. Good breeding practices must include daily socialization work with the puppies to ensure they develop properly and are ready to succeed in their new homes.
